Holiday Dinners at Ferris Hills

Holiday Dinners at Ferris Hills

Elbow Dinners

Every year we gather small sections of the community (we call them 'Elbows') and host a special holiday dinner.  Each elbow has their private night of celebration in Rayburn Hall.  Our Chefs go all out designing their menu and the halls are decked for the occasion.  It is a special gathering of neighbors and friends.  We cherish these moments. These pictures invoke for me a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson....."Behold our family here assembled.  We thank you for this place in which we dwell, for the love accorded us this day, for the hope with which we expect the morrow; for the health, the work, the food and the bright skies that make our lives delightful; for our friends in all parts of the earth we give thanks."

Manipulation, Moonshine, and Murder

By Valarie Veanes Upson

A lively discussion from this new auther, Valarie Veanes Upson, captivated us as she uncovered the history of her grandmother's tragic past.  We learned more about life during the Great Depression and what people had to do to survive.

Apples, Apples, All Around!

While Foraging at Ferris Hills and Clark Meadows we found an Apple Tree!

Delicious feral apples growing on our property!  Apple sauce, apple crisp, apple pie, tarte au pomme?  Anyone?  They're not ready yet so stay tuned.

A Hawaiian Luau at Ferris Hills!

Gabe!

It was a beautiful evening, August 11th, for FunDay Friday as residents of Ferris Hills and Clark Meadows enjoyed a solo serenade by one of the Elderly Brothers, and Ferris Resident, Gabe Cinquegrana.  The music, all familiar to the 35+ people in attendance, lasted for 1 hour and brought back many memories.
