Kristen Meyer came to Clark Meadows in 2017 working part time.  The strong sense of community and the positive culture at Ferris Hills and Clark Meadows was an attraction for her and she knew she wanted to be a more permanent member of the team. Kristen is now the first point of contact for families considering Clark Meadows, explaining our enriched living community’s services and the admissions process.  Kristen has been a community volunteer serving on the Wood Library Board and the Granger Homestead Board.  Since working at Thompson Health she has received the Shining Star Award.

Kristen grew up in Elmira, NY.  She attended Kenyon College in Ohio where she received her BA in Economics.  She attended the Weatherhead School of Management while working at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.  She is a licensed Realtor, and is very excited to combine her sales and marketing experience with the Senior Community model.  She views serving our aging population as an honor and a privilege.  Helping older people live their best lives is extremely rewarding.

Kristen lives in Canandaigua, is married and has three grown children. She enjoys gardening, cooking, a walk in the woods, and family time.

Matthew Laurence, Executive Chef
Matthew Laurence

Executive Chef
Ferris Hills at West Lake
(585) 393-1320 ext. 2028

A Rochester native and graduate of the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon, “Chef Matt” worked his way up from intern to executive chef at the four-star Harbor Court Hotel in Baltimore, Md. After returning to Fairport, he purchased the Green Lantern Inn, opening the Cellar Door Restaurant in its lower level and continuing restaurant and banquet operations there for 10 years.

Chef Matt, who later served as a chef at both SUNY Geneseo and the New York Wine and Culinary Center (now New York Kitchen) most recently served as the executive chef for Woodcliff Hotel & Spa in Fairport.

He now oversees food service operations for both Ferris Hills, which has 84 apartments, and the adjacent enriched living community of Clark Meadows, which has 48. Between cooks, stewards and wait staff members, his staff includes approximately 30 people.

For his part, Chef Matt said he is enjoying getting to know the residents and learning more about their individual tastes. Currently, there are two socially-distanced seatings for dinner each night and no big events but, he said, “I look forward to creating a lot of fun food experiences once we can all gather together again.”
