Reader’s Theater performed by The Players of Ontario County Arts Council put on a Spooktacular show last Sunday.

We were honored to welcome the group back for a second time and the audience was not disappointed!

Our residents and members of the public enjoyed listening to the eerie tales and had a chance to win a selection of raffle prizes.

Funds raised support the OCAC scholarship and grant programs.  We look forward to hosting more great shows in the future.

It was a beautiful evening, August 11th, for FunDay Friday as residents of Ferris Hills and Clark Meadows enjoyed a solo serenade by one of the Elderly Brothers, and Ferris Resident, Gabe Cinquegrana.  The music, all familiar to the 35+ people in attendance, lasted for 1 hour and brought back many memories.

A group of residents took off to the Blue Eagle Tavern in Branchport, NY for an afternoon of pub fare and an opportunity to see and remember this historic hot spot that has served generations of lake folk..

One of our residents, Gabe, is in the band!  Gabe and his wife, Deb, moved into Ferris Hill this year and they hit the ground running.  Both Deb and Gabe were already active volunteers in the community working tirelessly at the VA, Kiwanis, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and more.  Here, we are all enjoying the musical performane with lunch as an added treat.

Great Decisions Foreign Policy Association Lecture Series

Media and Foreign Policy

State and non-state actors today must maneuver a complex and rapidly evolving media landscape. Conventional journalism now competes with user-generated content. Official channels of communication can be circumvented through social media. Foreign policy is tweeted from the White House and “fake news” has entered the zeitgeist. Cyberwarfare, hacking and misinformation pose complex security threats.

Great Decisions is the nation’s longest-running global affairs education program, with content experts facilitating group discussions on topics of global importance. Ferris Hills hosts the local chapter of Great Decisions each year. This 8 week series of group discussions - facilitated by content experts - takes place in  Ferris Hills Community Room from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursdays beginning February 22nd. There is no cost to attend the one-hour discussions, and individuals may attend any or all.  An optional lunch follows for $14 per person. Reservations for those staying for lunch are required and may be made by calling  (585) 393-0410. Lunch tickets are available at the Front Desk.Optional Great Decisions discussion books are available for purchase online, at www.GreatDecisions.org
