Dorothy Lander Shares Letters and Pictures from Floridian First Graders! Dorothy Lander Shares Letters and Pictures from Floridian First Graders! Sharing Finger Lakes Foliage with Young Floridians turns into a Treasure of Letters and Drawings! KristenMeyer / Thursday, March 27, 2025 0 2876 Last Fall, Dorothy (Dot) Lander collected a box of colorful leaves and sent them to her daughter, Janet, who is a 1st grade teacher in Florida. Janet's students, many of whom had never been exposed to the beautiful Fingerlakes colors, responded in a most thoughtful way. They drew pictures and composed letters. Dot was so surprised and overcome with joy when she opened the package. These pictures and letters have been displayed in the CM living room this week for all CM residents, staff, families and visitors to enjoy! A big thank you to Dot for sharing with all of us. We have been in awe of the thoughful messages, the drawings, and the amazing penmanship coming from such young children. Read more

Soup's On! Soup's On! All Delicious and All Homemade by Our Staff! KristenMeyer / Tuesday, January 14, 2025 0 5192 The Clark Meadows/Ferris Hills Kitchen staff set a high bar in the culnary department. They provide an excellent menu offering healthy delicious meals every day. In an effort to change things up a bit, the staff who do not work in the kitchen wanted to share some of their soup recipes with our residents. The residents were eager to taste and we were honored to have our head chef, Tony Cafarelli, sous chef, Dan Cobb, and long-time dining associate, Brittni Hewitt, come in at the end to critique our soups. They gave us all gold stars! The Soup Bar Lunch included Melissa's Tomato, Basil & Orzo soup, Beth's Butternut Squash, Kristen's Black Bean, Claire's Steak & Potato, Dave's Pasta Fagioli, Rebecca's Meatball Stew w/Orzo & White Beans, and Jenn's Stuffed Pepper Soup. Thank you all for helping with this Soup Bar lunch special. It was a success! Read more
SuperUser Account / Tuesday, March 28, 2017 / Categories: Ferris Hills Blog Ferris Hills Residents Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (CANANDAIGUA, NY) Although the residents of the Finger Lakes’ leading Senior Living Community hail from all over the world, everyone was Irish for a day on Friday, March 17. The spirit of the Irish was in the air at the annual Ferris Hills St. Patrick’s Day Social. It was also apparent in the party-goers green apparel and Irish-themed food, drink, and entertainment. Everyone enjoyed a day full of mirth, laughs, and making memories with their neighbors. The luck o’ the Irish was with the community as renowned international recording artist (and Rochester native) Chris Wilson provided the day’s entertainment with a singing performance. He’s best known for his powerful vocals that are raw, powerful, and lively – and really captured the spirit of the day. All in attendance were serenaded by the crooner during the green-themed festivities. Wilson belted everyone’s favorite tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, and early 70’s, spanning genres from Everly Brothers, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, the Monkees, and beyond. You could hear the crowd start to sing along and soon enough, dance the day away! The Ferris Hills event staff knows a St. Patrick’s Day Social wouldn’t be complete without vittles and drinks inspired by the Emerald Isle, and boy did they deliver. Staff Lassie Darcy served Bailey’s and other Irish Whiskeys to the crowd. The Ferris Hill culinary team crafted special recipes just for this special day, including mouthwatering Ruben bites and traditional Irish cheeses such as Bay Lough, Corleggy, Dubliner, and Killorglin. It was an Irish epicurean delight. You could feel the energy and enthusiasm thrum through the room as the festivities continued. They say when Irish eyes are smiling, they’re usually up to something – and today, it was all about celebration! As the Ferris Hills St. Patrick’s Day Social came to a close, the party-goers laughed about all the fun that had ensued during the day’s festivities. The smiles on everyone’s faces confirmed this sentiment. “May your troubles be less and your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door.” Scroll below to see even more photos of this lucky holiday celebration!
