Artist, Benji Carr, Visits Clark Meadows Artist, Benji Carr, Visits Clark Meadows "The Ghost of Roseland" is coming to Canandaigua Lake! KristenMeyer / Tuesday, May 21, 2024 0 9726 Local artist, Benji Carr, was on site to show his latest project to our residents. The Ghost of Roseland sculpture is his latest commissioned piece. He brought the model to show us how it will look and explained that there will be moving parts. What a thrill for our staff and residents to get this up close and personal presentation of such an exciting project. The discussion brought out a lot of reminiscing about Roseland Park. So many of our residents grew up in Canandaigua and Rosleand Park was a big part of their youth. The art reflects the history of our town and the importance that the park played. Pat Rini Rohrer, gallery owner and Art Tuppen, Canandaigua local, were two of our enthusiastic audience participants. They are photographed here with the artist. Read more

The spirit of the Irish was in the air at the annual Ferris Hills St. Patrick’s Day Social. It was also apparent in the party-goers green apparel and Irish-themed food, drink, and entertainment. Everyone enjoyed a day full of mirth, laughs, and making memories with their neighbors. The luck o’ the Irish was with the community as renowned international recording artist (and Rochester native) Chris Wilson provided the day’s entertainment with a singing performance. He’s best known for his powerful vocals that are raw, powerful, and lively – and really captured the spirit of the day. All in attendance were serenaded by the crooner during the green-themed festivities. Wilson belted everyone’s favorite tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, and early 70’s, spanning genres from Everly Brothers, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, the Monkees, and beyond. You could hear the crowd start to sing along and soon enough, dance the day away! The Ferris Hills event staff knows a St. Patrick’s Day Social wouldn’t be complete without vittles and drinks inspired by the Emerald Isle, and boy did they deliver. Staff Lassie Darcy served Bailey’s and other Irish Whiskeys to the crowd. The Ferris Hill culinary team crafted special recipes just for this special day, including mouthwatering Ruben bites and traditional Irish cheeses such as Bay Lough, Corleggy, Dubliner, and Killorglin. It was an Irish epicurean delight. You could feel the energy and enthusiasm thrum through the room as the festivities continued. They say when Irish eyes are smiling, they’re usually up to something – and today, it was all about celebration! As the Ferris Hills St. Patrick’s Day Social came to a close, the party-goers laughed about all the fun that had ensued during the day’s festivities. The smiles on everyone’s faces confirmed this sentiment. “May your troubles be less and your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door.” Scroll below to see even more photos of this lucky holiday celebration!
