North East England Presentation

Claire Watson shared stories and photos of her English hometown, Tynemouth, during her presentation at Ferris Hills last week.

It was a full house and residents enjoyed hearing about the North East of England's weather, food, history and local landmarks. The Priory Castle, Collingwood's Monument, North Shields Fish Quay and the Long Sands were explored with a quick tour around the local pub.

The beautiful town of Tynemouth rests on the North Sea coastline and is filled with stores, coffee-shops and restaurants with dramatic views. Its history dates back to an Iron Age settlement and is steeped in history making it a hit with tourists.

"The Elderly Brothers" perform at Ferris Hills

A hotdog lunch and music show on a Thursday afternoon!

One of our residents, Gabe, is in the band! Gabe and his wife, Deb, moved into Ferris Hill this year and they hit the ground running. Both Deb and Gabe were already active volunteers in the community working tirelessly at the VA, Kiwanis, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and more. Here, we are all enjoying the musical performane with lunch as an added treat.
