A Journey to New Zealand through the memories shared by Jane Kinyoun! A Journey to New Zealand through the memories shared by Jane Kinyoun! KristenMeyer / Monday, May 26, 2025 0 1417 At Clark Meadows we have been doing a travel series hightlighting a different country each month. This May, we are exploring Australia and New Zealand. It seemed like a perfect opportunity to hear from one of our own, Jane Kinyoun. Jane had a second career that spanned 15 years working as a tour guide throughout Australia and New Zealand. Her story is one of resilience, reinvention, and remarkable adventures. It took some coaxing, but she agreed to allow us to shine a spotlight on her. She shared her stories and told us all kinds of interesting tales about life as a tour guide and the wonders of New Zealand. We tasted kiwi fruit and Marmite on crackers! The New Zealand wine made the marmite go down a little easier. It just so happened to be a Constellation wine made in New Zealand (always fun to have a local connection). It was interesting to hear from one of our residents about all the unique aspects of a country far away. Her pictures were fun, seeing her in her younger years taking care of all the tourists. She had interesting tidbits in her presentation about the kiwi bird, the kea bird, the NZ possum, winding roads with beautiful vistas, helicopter rides over the the glaciers, and bungie jumping! When a resident shares their experiences we all are enriched! Thank you Jane! Read more

Lynne Standish / Wednesday, June 22, 2022 / Categories: Ferris Hills Events, Ferris Hills Blog Bringing the joy of music! Rocappella is a women's a cappella group from Rochester, NY. Their mission is to "bring the joy of music to members of our community who need it most." And that is exactly what they did recently with their concert here at Ferris Hills. Under the direction of Maggie Symington, who started the group in 2014, these women, who have a variety of backgrounds come together to spread their joy of singing. They perform most often at a variety of senior communities in the Rochester area, as well as the YWCA and even had an invitation to perform at a holiday party at the Naval Observatory for the then Vice-President, Joseph Biden and his guests. From the golden oldies to gospel, showtunes, holiday, and even pop music, these ladies use their talents and our residents certainly reaped the benefits!
