Making artificial poppies is a long-standing tradition and today we all pitched in to help the local Veterans Affairs assemble poppies. Close to 400 poppies were assembled and we had a good time sharing stories and remembering our own experiences with the symbolic poppy.

Today at Clark Meadows, Katherine McGrath lead the Music History series with a new topic.  Great Conductors, such as Marin Alsop, Lorin Verncove Maazel, Herbert von Karajan, Juliette Nadia Boulanger, and Fritz Reiner were featured.  So interesting to learn about the different styles and what all those hand gestures and arm motions mean!

The Senior Signers present a holiday program!

Jody Wilbur and her "Senior Signers"; her ASL language students, performed a beautiful Christmas program this week.  Residents worked very hard for many weeks learning to sign Christmas songs.  The show kicked off with an upbeat version of Jingle Bells, sung by The Drifters. The next two numbers, they were accompanied by our Music Therapist, Katherine McGraff.  She played her guitar and sang The First Noel and Silent Night.  There may not have been too many dry eyes in the audience after the finale.  A resident had suggested learning the sign language for "Mary Did you Know?" and Jody found a powerful rendition of this song sung by CeeLo Green.  We are so very proud of our Senior Signers as they portrayed this beautiful song for the holiday season.  Thank you Jody and all of our resident signers!
