Where's the Beef? Where's the Beef? For the answer, look no further than Ferris Hills at West Lake in Canandaigua, NY KristenMeyer / Monday, March 4, 2024 0 16818 The 10th Annual Chef & Sip Challenge was held yesterday at the Hotel Canandaigua. It was presented by the Canandaigua Kiwanis Club. Our Chefs, Daniel Cobb and Julie Woloson offered up Yankee Pot Roast and Mashed Potatoes garnished with puff pastry/carmalized onion & chive. It was a feast for the senses and they came home with the prize of Most Creative! Congratulations to these talented chefs! Lots of familiar faces in the photos. You will see some of our wait staff, Matt Pelton and Kaylee White, out enjoying the day along with retired Executive Director, Aimee Ward. The venue was beautiful, the competition was fierce, but there was great camaraderie among the many talented chefs. There is so much talent in this region of the Finger Lakes and we are fortunate to have some of that talent right here at Ferris Hills and Clark Meadows. Read more

Weird Food Pairings?! Weird Food Pairings?! Wine, fruit, juice, ice cream! YUM! KristenMeyer / Wednesday, January 17, 2024 0 13086 So, I'm telling tails out of school. Our residents often get chatting in the living room about ideas for our socials. One of our residents thought it might be fun to do unusual food pairings. They didn't expect us to actually follow through. When our Program Manager came into the living room with a bag of Baby Ruth Bars and a squeeze bottle of mustard they were astounded! I came on the scene late wondering what they were all laughing about. Everyone was giving it a go and enjoying the strange combination of sweet and spicy. That was just the beginning. Our Nurse Coordinator said, "game on" and she proposed the following week that we try pickle and peanut butter sandwiches! The next week our Case Manager suggested doritos and ice cream! Today, before our happy hour Melissa served up ice cream with wine and fruit! Rave reviews all around the room! Read more
Lynne Standish / Wednesday, May 11, 2022 / Categories: Ferris Hills Blog, Clark Meadows Blog Recognizing our Shining Star! Each year, Thompson Health has a "Shining Star" ceremony for those associates who have been nominated by their peers for exceptional work and abiding by the CARES values. Winners are chosen by a secret committee. A number of staff were on hand Tuesday, May 10th for this ceremony. One of our Nutrition associates, Laura Hillson was surprised and pleased to be honored with her shining star this year! "As the lead server and host in the Clark Meadows dining room, Laura is often the first person residents see in the morning, and she never fails to bring sunshine to their day. She takes the time to ask how they're doing, commits their likes and dislikes to memory, listens intently to their needs and promptly follows up if one has a special order or concern. She takes pride in training new associates and is a role model to all with her energy, her patience and her take-charge, effervescent personality. As one associate said, "CARES values? She has them all." Congratulations Laura and thank you! Previous Article And they're off! Next Article Sprucing up! Print 19065
